land of the free

textile company maharam's current print advertising features a digital project called "along banks of rivers high"by the brooklyn based artist brian alfred.  the piece can be installed as wallpaper but is meant to be seen as a piece of art.  i saw the piece in person at neocon and it was absolutely gorgeous, a mix of vivid greens in a geometric pattern inspired by the lay of the land.

someday i am going to create a room inspired by my favorite poster of all time.  for like ever by tracy jenkins was featured on the cover domino magazine years ago and i get the same fuzzy feeling every time i see it.  you can get one too for $60.

i inspire me

wallpaper magazine is the best. they have an online gallery space called wallspace that they invite designers to share what inspires their work. my favorite is tokujin yokiosha's. his inspiration is definitely in line with his work.

doing it well

wallpaper magazine is letting their readers get hands on for the august issue. you can make your own custom cover and have it delivered right to your home. the magazine has created a special application with images, graphics and patterns from a variety of designers that you can manipulate to make your own. the last day for submissions is june 8th. get it while its hot!

thecoolhunter.net has launched a guerilla marketing campaign

which will be used to "create a buzz" by slapping stickers

on cars, magazines and people.

i loved the stickers until i spotted the one that states:

ouch.

in a period where magazines are struggling to stay

afloat due to the rise of digital media,

magazine publishers have joined together to make their own claim.

will run in close to 100 magazines this year

stating that "during the 12-year life of google,

magazine readership actually increased 11 percent"

and that

"people aren't giving up swimming,

just because they also enjoy surfing."
