don't stop til you get enough
elodie blanchard presented some new works for her company elasticCo at icff this year. i have blogged about her awesome google pillows before and now she has added hand screened google posters of the top ten google searches of 2009 to her list of products. based out of brooklyn, elasticCo also makes some beautiful custom window coverings. it was a pleasure to meet her and hear her story. check out her etsy shop here.

switch it up
wow. i was definitely taken aback when i learned who the designer of the careem chair for council is. freaking karim rashid. unbelievable. i would have never thought that the man who thinks in pastel, candy colored blobjects could produce something like this. very interesting. i think its great and shows a bit of diversity in the designer. council is a california based design and manufacturing company and has worked with some really big names. i love the work shown this year at icff.

let me work it
look what i found at a rummage sale over the weekend! a boby trolley by mid century designer joe colombo for a mere $15! i have been lusting over the trolley and its versatility for some time now. the hard part is deciding what room to utilize it in: office, bathroom or kitchen?

up in here
bernhardt design, a furniture company with american roots, presented some fantastic work at icff 2010 and they just all happened to be in my favorite colors. the swiveling pillar chair by brad ascalon was my favorite. also shown were curio table and corvo chair. the booth was spacious and allowed attendees a spot to rest and take it all in.

lean with it
icff studio and bernhardt design choose up and coming designers to present prototypes at icff in hopes of finding a potential manufacturer. one of my favorites this year was montgomery design's floor lamp. i love the extreme clean look with a hidden lighting element.

concrete jungle
on saturday night during new york design week 2010, i checked out areaware's store for their 5th anniversary. the new york based manufacturer is one of the biggest young american designer cheerleaders out there. confetti system provided some cool decorations and areaware gave out canvas bags stuffed with info and a silicone key keychain by harry allen
she's got it going on
patricia urquiola is the number one designer at icff 2010. here she views the booth for her collection with hansgrohe. urquiola showed work with a variety of companies and sat down for discussion with linda tischler of fast company. she discussed interior work with car manufacturer bmw and store design for h&m. the designer left us with a little inspiration stating she doesn't believe in advice and when someone gives it to you, do the contrary. nice. check out the interview below.

tom dixon has his factory workers at it again. the designer's exhibit at icff 2010 includes a table of workers constructing pendant lamps and votive candle holders on site that could be purchased at a reasonable price. dixon's signature mirror ball pendants were on display, as well as his new stacking peg chairs which you can get in an amazing saturated neon orange.

look at you
new york city!!! its so great to be back! i have had the opportunity to stay at the hudson hotel while in town for my first and long awaited visit to the international contemporary furniture fair. the hotel accomplishes mixing a variety of styles without feeling disconnected with its acid yellow glass accents and mod meets traditional interior. love it!

you're my obsession
i have a confession. i know why you can't find any wedges by cynthia vincent for target in the milwaukee area. i bought them all. the designer collaboration shoes have been selling like hotcakes and have become so difficult to find that they are currently selling on ebay for more than twice what they originally sold at target for. fashion bloggers have been going nuts over the target launch which seemed to cause a bigger storm than expected. get it while its hot!
